2017 will be a year to remember as it marks an important turning point for the festival.
It is the inaugral year for the ‘Lancaster Chinese New Year Arts Festival’ formerly known as the ‘Lancaster Chinese New Year Festival’. It reflects the new direction we’re taking in showcasing contemporary and heritage arts side by side and supporting creativity and new work in Lancaster through our Artist Residency programme.
The Chinese New Year Carnival remains one of the highlights of the programme for the 5th year running – once again bringing the city streets to life with sound, music and colour.
We look forward to seeing you at one of the upcoming events, but also help shape future festivals by telling us what you think on our Facebook, Twitter and website.

We are excited to work with so many artists, volunteers and organisations on our biggest celebrations to date on our 10th Anniversary. We worked hard over the past decade to deliver engaging community services and events to promote social cohesion and a shared sense of community and look forward to continue doing so in the future.

2015 is an important year for the Lancaster & Morecambe Chinese New Year Festival as it marks an incredible 10 years since it began.
From its humble beginning at a local community centre, it has grown to include major events held in both Lancaster and Morecambe’s town centres each with their own attractions and unique atmosphere – with thousands of visitors expected to take part in the festival this year.
Artists from across Lancashire will be showcasing their talent across the Festival and a newly commissioned lantern dragon will be joining us for this year’s events.
The Morecambe Chinese New Year Funfair will be packed with rides for adults and children, market stalls and parade. Whilst the city centre streets will come alive for the Lancaster Chinese New Year Carnival with an electric atmosphere brimming with live acts, street markets and our biggest parade! We will then fi nish the festival by marking this special occasion with our 10th Anniversary Gala at Lancaster town Hall.
With so much going on, come visit Lancaster and Morecambe where a warm welcome awaits for Chinese New Year.
