Chair of Hua Xian Chinese Society – Sam Moi Chan

As Chinese New Year approaches, the community and businesses along with the support of Lancaster City Council and the Consulate General of P.R. of China come together to welcome the festive season with an incredible celebration.

Over the years, we have worked with numerous artists and volunteers who showcase the best of what Lancaster and the Chinese community offer whilst bringing both communities closer together.

On behalf of the Hua Xian Chinese Society, I would like to sincerely thank everyone for all the support we have recieved.

And I wish everyone happiness, prosperity and good health for the Year of the Horse!

Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China – Consul General Pan Yundong

As winter fades, the Snake completes its sublime dance, In anticipation of the Horse, galloping towards a new spring.

As this auspicious year shows promise, on behalf of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Manchester I wish everyone prosperity, happiness and good fortune for the Year
of the Horse!

It is encouraging to see overseas Chinese communities be proud of and share their culture. I wholeheartedly support continued efforts to strengthen ties between Britain and China – through
friendship and cultural exchanges that will benefit both countries.

The Right Worshipful, The Mayor of Lancaster – Councillor June Ashworth

I am thrilled to be able to support the Chinese community of this district, many of whom I have had the privilege to meet during the course of my Mayoral Year. We enjoy a wonderful friendship with the Hua Xian Chinese Society and I am delighted to be able to support some of their events to celebrate Chinese New Year in 2014.

I look forward to seeing members of all our communities coming together to enjoy such wonderful and colourful events, and I wish all members of the Hua Xian Chinese Society, and the wider Chinese Community in this district, every success for the new year.
